Sustainability at BGNU

Sustainability at Baba Guru Nanak University (BGNU)

The QEC at Baba Guru Nanak University, Nankana Sahib (BGNU), regarding sustainability is dedicated to transforming the university into a model of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) engagement.

Our mission includes fostering SDG-oriented research, creating impactful learning opportunities, establishing strategic external partnerships for a sustainable future, and developing policies that promote responsible operations on campus.

At BGNU, we aim to cultivate a community that not only acknowledges global challenges but actively addresses them. Whether on campus or in everyday life, we prioritize environmental, economic, and social issues by integrating them into our designs, inquiries, and actions.

Our sustainability initiatives are designed to connect diverse disciplines and perspectives, with strong emphasis on experiential learning and real-world implementation.

Objectives

The QEC regarding sustainability envisions comprehensive integration of the 17 SDGs into BGNU's educational framework through four channels: research, learning, external engagement, and responsible campus operations.

  • Align research at BGNU with the 17 SDGs to strengthen publication output in critical areas.
  • Foster social responsibility in students to prepare them for positive societal impact.
  • Strengthen external engagement with industries, public-sector organizations, and social/corporate sectors for SDG adoption.
  • Refine campus operations and policies to ensure equal opportunities and responsible resource utilization.

Through these initiatives, BGNU aims to create a sustainable future that meets present needs while safeguarding the well-being of future generations.
